Everything Everywhere

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

What’s better than going to a cool spot for vacation? Going to every cool spot. Web entrepreneur Gary Arndt sold his house, put his possessions in storage, and took off. So far, he’s been to over forty countries. He’s posting a daily photo and blog entry about his travels at everything-everywhere.com.

Follow him on Twitter, or via iTunes, Feed Burner, or email.

Not as good as going yourself, but that’s next year, right? Anyone know a good real estate agent?

Snatch (no, not that kind)

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

Guy Ritchie may not be with Madonna any more, but to our way of thinking, that’s her loss. He’s written and directed two of the most entertaining “caper” flicks of all time. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, is a clever (and hilarious) insta-classic. But Snatch is even more complex and entertaining.

The plot’s a lot more convoluted that can be explained here, but it involves diamond smuggling, fixed illegal boxing matches, and a tribe of Irish gypsies. Brad Pitt is one of the gypsies who is hired to throw a fight and he’s hilarious. It’s his very best role—even better than 12 Monkeys. The guy can actually act.

An added bonus is the character names: “Boris The Blade,” “Franky Four Fingers,” “Bullet Tooth Tony,” and “Brick Top.” Love it.

Put it on the top of your Netflix queue now.

La Tienda Spanish Food

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

For a long time, La Tienda was the only place to get genuine Spanish foods. From authentic paella supplies to jamon serrano (cured mountain ham) and Spanish regional sausages such as morcilla, butifarra, and chorizo, La Tienda is still the best.

Other featured items include cheeses (more than just manchego), olives of all types, several brands of olive oil, almonds, rice, canned fish, and, maybe best of all, sweets such as turron, chocolates and cookies.

For the true aficionado, there’s also the world’s best ham–jamon iberico. It’s expensive, but take it from one who’s had it, the flavor is intense, all you need is a little.

Prices are reasonable for the quality and selection you get and shipping is quick.
